WHO AM I?
My name is Hanifa and I’ve been working within the field of marketing for the past 15 years, starting straight out of secondary school. My first job was as a design apprentice – where I picked up a range of tips and tricks that have served me to this day.
Since my design days, I’ve gone on to code websites, plan social media campaigns, develop and execute marketing strategies, worked with celebrities and influencers, had huge budgets and tiny budgets and I have learned a heck of a lot. Some things that I probably would have expected and other things that just don’t make any sense to me.
WHAT IS DIGITAL BLANC?
When I originally bought the domain name Digital Blanc a few years ago, I’d planned on turning it into an agency or some sort of consultant service but it never really happened. Mainly, because I had a full time job that I loved and partly because I wasn’t ready to start my own agency and more likely because I actually like being the ‘client’. In fact, I love being the client…I don’t think I could handle being on the other side of the table.
Therefore Digital Blanc is a collection of my learnings and hopefully the learnings of other marketers covering a vast range of topics within the discipline of marketing.
In all of my roles, there have been varying requirements for the digital marketing channels (obviously, these channels have adapted over time) – for some, it was simply about brand awareness, using ‘digital’ as a way to flatten the line while we had a break with the above the line advertising. For others, it’s been their sole route to market and therefore it was important to track every spent and in my current role, digital is part of the overall integrated mix.
Therefore, I feel like I am speaking from experience when I talk about the campaigns that I have worked on, the reporting back that’s required but also the way that the ‘story’ that you tell the business is managed.
So yes, Digital Blanc is a collection of marketing learnings from the point of view of the people who have either developed or executed the campaigns!
