Digital Blanc was founded by me, Hanifa Dungarwalla. I’d refer to myself as a Digital Marketing veteran, with over fifteen years experience in this ever changing, dynamic world of marketing. I’ve always been the client, juggling business priorities, challenging market places and agency ambitions. I have to say, that while I love it – it can be quite exhausting, especially when you have to justify every single penny that you spend (afterall it’s not your money), plan every campaign down to a tee and often having to pull campaigns at the last minute. I’ve got a lot of stories to tell, a lot of questions to ask and a lot of insight that I would like to share.
I think it’s important to remember that while I am a Digital Marketer, when you’re on the client side, you’re not always an expert in a specific discipline. While I know how to set up and run a PPC campaign, I don’t do it day-to-day and so my view is holistic rather than specialist at times.
I’ve worked across a range of sectors, right now I’m in publishing but prior to this, I was in white goods, FMCG, eCommerce and B2B. Personally, it’s given me a good pedigree but being client side, it’s meant that I’ve had to stay on top of trends and changes to the digital sphere while being often wholly reliant on agencies to carry out the grunt work. It’s a balance and as marketers, it’s our job to tell a story. This blog is just that, it’s the story of my learnings, my failures and my frustrations as a marketer.
